Turin
The Kraków Nativity Scenes for many years have been a success as well in Poland as abroad. It can be said that they are a symbol of Kraków which makes that our city is recognizable.
This year Kraków’s Cribs will be presented in Turin, in the museum - Museo Nazionale della Montagna. For the first time we are going to present our cribs in a new, different from previous patterns form. On a Turin’s museum invitation we have arranged an exhibition which apart from typical presentation of Kraków’s Christmas Cribs is a show our Christmas traditions and customs Because of the fact that museum in Turin focuses on the mountains subject-matter, the show was extended with the features of the traditions from Podhale, that is why together with the cribs from Kraków we are going to present people’s cribs from the collection of Jacek Łodziński.
The opening will be in 13th of November 2008.
Tartu
This year the Kraków Nativity Scenes are going to visit Estonia. Eight works of art made by Kraków’s cribs makers are presented in Tartu (previously called Dorpat), the city famous because of created in 1632 by king of Sweden - Gustavus Adolphus – university. Because of this fact the city of Tartu in Estonia (like Kraków in Poland), very often is called a cultural and intellectual capital city of the country. The Kraków’s Christmas Cribs will be presented since 29th of November 2008 until beginning of February 2009 in the Museum of Toys. During the exhibition all children will be able to take part in the cribs makers’ workshops. The event was arranged by Kraków City Council together with Polish embassy in Tallinn.
