Exhibition "The Lajkonik’s World. The Hobby Horse" in Krzysztofory Palace
Every year, on the first Thursday after the Feast of Corpus Christi, a black-bearded rider wearing a colourful, oriental costume traverses the streets of Krakow from Zwierzyniec to the Market Square on an artificial white horse. He is called the Lajkonik or the Zwierzyniec Horse. He is accompanied by a standard bearer with a majestic standard depicting a white eagle, twenty four bargemen (the Vistula rafters) in colourful costumes as well as Mlaskoty band of nine people whose music sets the rhythm of the march.
