| We would like to invite you to the Zwierzyniec Artistic Salon for next exhibition from the series “The circle of Mrs. Halina” titled - Funio from a magazine titled “Przekrój”. Collage and drawings made by Stefan Berdak in years 1968-2009. The opening of the exhibition takes place on January 29th 2010 at 12:00. The exhibition is fulfilled with collages and drawings made by Stafan Berdak in years 1968 – 2009, mainly those made for the weekly magazine from Kraków titled “Przekrój”. Funio is one of pseudonyms used in the “Przekrój” magazine by Stefan Berdak – Kraków’s painter and graphic artist, who with passion creates collages, enamel ware and engages in usable art (posters and boxes). The author comes from Lvov. After he had graduated Kraków’s Fine Arts Academy (the workshop of prof. Ludwik Gardowski) he started artistic work. He was co-author of graphic layouts in many magazines like “Zdarzenia” (1958-1960), “Magazyn Kulturalny” (1975-1983), „Czarno na białym” (1957) or „Zebra” (1958-1959). In 1971 Stefan Berdak started working for “Przekrój” magazine and he stayed there for over 30 years. He used to design covers and arranged permanent sections. He used to work closely with Ludwik Jerzy Kern designing the last page of the magazine. On the exhibition there will be 50 reproductions of collages and covers from the “Przekrój” magazine, and 41 drawings created between years 1968 and 2009. We couldn’t forget about pictures taken by Stefan Berdak, as well those from the period when he was in Lvov, as those from the times of studying and working in Kraków. Rooms of the exhibition will be fulfilled with archive issues of the Kraków’s weekly magazine. Moreover on the exhibition we have some equipment of Mr. Stefan's workshop. The exhibition of collages and drawings by Stefan Berdak in Zwierzyniec Artistic Salon begins in 2010 new series of exhibitions titled “The Circle of Mrs. Halina”. The series is dedicated to co-founder of the Salon and initiator of the Zwierzyniec All Arts Fans Association, an artist and activist form the Zwierzyniec district – Mrs. Halina Cieślińska-Brzeska. We would like Mrs. Halina to patronize new projects of exhibitions of young artists – painters, graphic artists, sculptors and designers. The second series of exhibitions will be titled “The history of Zwierzyniec” and will be dedicated to the history of Zwierzyniec, people who made the history and traditions of the Zwierzyniec district, the traditions which were absorbed by the culture of Kraków and strongly entered into the national culture trends. Related events: - Continuously during the exhibition we are showing the movie about Stefan Berdak works. The movie has been made by Kraków’s branch of the TVP 3 - On Saturday, April 10th, 2010 – a debate about the “Przekrój” magazine takes place. What the “Przekrój” gave Kraków’s and Polish contemporary culture?
