| The exhibition’s opening on Sunday, June 28th at 12:00 in the Old Synagogue, at 24 Szeroka Street. Welcome!. To fully understand Jewish tradition you have to get familiar with the subject of traditional, religious Jewish literature which the tradition derives from and all the time refers to. Main parts and theme pillars of the Judaism are: The Hebrew Bible and the rabbinic literature including Mishnah, Talmud and later, broad rabbinic literature. Development of science, creative remarking, looking for a new, hidden meanings is a responsibility of every Jew and inseparable feature of Judaism. Sins of those who are busy with Torah and fulfilling benevolences will be forgiven. (Babylonian Talmud) This fundamental part of the Jewish heritage is a subject of this year’s exhibition in the Old Synagogue in the Kraków’s Kazimierz district. This event has educational character. It is directed to the public interested in Jewish culture. With this exhibition we would like to prove that the difficult subject doesn’t have to be hermetic. We would like to invite you to meet the greatest works of the Jewish literature which became a part of all mankind’s heritage. We are going to present them and tell about by relevant for the museums visual narration. Because of the fact that the exhibition’s subject are man’s thoughts we cannot forget about books which are the medium of them. On the exhibition we present books enclosing Jewish science, Hebrew printings and manuscripts from the museum’s collection: The Hebrew Bible and its translations to national languages, Torah scrolls, Chumash - five fifths of the Torah, Tsena Urena – Women’s bible with comments in Yiddish language, volumes of the Talmud, code of law, Rabbinic replies - sets of questions and answers on various aspects of life, cabalistic works, Hassid’s books, prayers books and also works from the scope of the Hebrew grammar and measuring the Jewish calendar.
