Gwiazda sceny krakowskiej - Andrzej Grabowski

A Kraków's Scene Star - Andrzej Grabowski
From March 4 until March 27, 2008,
in the theatrical gallery „The Cross House"

The series „A Star of the Krakow’s Stage” shows profiles of outstanding, present Krakow’s actors. This exhibition is dedicated to theatrical and film artist - Andrzej Grabowski. The actor created many excellent creations as well on the stage of J. Słowacki Theatre (Argan in the „The Imaginary Invalid” by Molier, directed by Giovanni Pampiglione), The Old Theatre (Jasiek in the „Wesele” by Stanisław Wyspiański, directed by Andrzej Wajda), as the TV Theatre (Gruszczyński in the „Sen srebrny Salomei” by Juliusz Słowacki, directed by Krzysztof Nazar).
Most of the spectator used to associate Grabowski with the artist creating characteristic and comedy roles. He became famous thanks to roles of country cousins, people not too intelligent, such like Ferdynand Kiepski form the popular TV series. The artist very intentionally and consequently uses his emploi, he vary carefully matches means of expression. „Naturalness” and spontaneity of roles associated with Grabowski is very illusory, because all his roles are worked out in every particular.
For the individual character of his acting influenced various artistic experiences like, cooperation with music band Ensemble MW2; performing „Kwartet dla czterech aktorów” (Quartet for four actors) by Bogusław Schaeffer; creating, together with his brother Mikołaj, specific „family” theatre and the famous performance „Screenplay for three actors” by Schaeffer as well. It is worth of mentioning that performing monodrama of Schaeffer „Audiencja V” („Audience V”) Grabowski won the festival of Theatres of One Actor. Impulsiveness while acting Schaeffer’s plays based on persisted work, intentional working out every gesture and move and using a body as a tool.
Gained experience caused that Grabowski doesn’t want to create mysterious atmosphere on the stage. He is aware of the fact that acting mainly base on arduous work, continuous improving of vocal and physical skills. Behind the greatness of Andrzej Garbowski’s art of acting lies treating acting as a very demanding profession.
The exhibition titled "A Kraków's Scene Star - Andrzej Grabowski" is the last one before the planned, a few years long, and „The Cross House” renovation.
